Die Casting Tooling and Inserts

Die casting Tooling and Inserts. Die cast tooling are called insert die or die casting molds, or casting dies. They are available in several sizes, values and styles. Costs of die cast tooling vary. Trim dies cost about a few hundred dollars. Cavity inserts cost a few thousand dollars, while the large part complete die cast tool package cost about several thousand dollars or more. The least expensive form of die cast tooling is the die casting tooling inserts. These high pressure inserts are only sufficient steel to manufacture the cavities and a little more steel to accommodate the fluctuation of molten metal temperature. In order to extend the tooling life of these inserts, heat treating to the proper hardness is required. Too hard cavity inserts will result to failure from the high temperature of the molten metal. This will crack the steel. On the other hand, too soft cavity inserts will result to quick damage and wear due to extension of the molten metal injecting under force.

When a die casting tool maker has no sufficient knowledge or experience, or does not follow the American Die Casting Standards, there is a risk that he will not use enough steel in the die cast insert. This will result to a lesser potential life of the inserts.

The Prototype Die Casting Tooling Inserts has similar information as the die casting tooling insert. The only difference is the die casting tooling is of lower grade steel and not heat treated. This type of insert is less costly than a hardened cavity insert. Also, it can be produced in a shorter time. This tool, however, is damaged more easily. It cannot be altered or modified easily.

Our Die Casting Company

Our Die Casting Company. The die casting industry is the most imperative industry in the United States. Ninety percent of all completed manufactured products contain die cast parts. Every die casting company contributes to the 7.3 billion-dollars that the country’s economy makes every year. That’s a lot of money!

When searching for a die casting company for your business, it is best to inquire at the North American Die Casters Association (NADCA) to ensure that you will not have future disputes with this die casting company. There are many companies that sell metal parts at a cheaper cost but some of these companies produce metal parts that don’t meet the strict standards. This might endanger your business by making your products have poor quality. You might be cutting down on your production cost but you are taking a huge risk for your business. It is best to go with an American die casting company than a company located offshore. Offshore companies are prone to cancellations of commitments and to have delays in producing die cast parts. Most of them demand an advance payment but might not complete the job. It would be very difficult to track them down. These companies may also be using un-certified metal alloys and unknown materials which add to the possibility of product failures.

Choose an American die casting company because they meet the firm standards of the NADCA in die casting. They can be monitored and be held responsible for any failures and actions that might affect your business.

Roles of Die Casting Tooling

Four general roles of die casting tooling and four general types of dies. Your die cast tooling has four general roles in any production process. The first role of the tooling or the die is to hold the molten metal that is fired into it and allow the molten metal to take shape. It will also provide a means for this metal to get into its rightful place where it can stay and assume the shape for which the future product is designed. The die casting die or tooling will also effectively remove the heat from the injected molten metal and for that metal to solidify over time. And finally it is expected that the dies will allow for the removal of the casting.

If there are four general roles that can be performed by the dies, there are also four general forms of dies that can be used in any industrial applications. The first type of die casting tooling is the single cavity, the one that can produce one component. The second form of tooling is the multiple-cavity that can produce a number of identical parts. This form of tooling is often used for many industrial applications like in auto industry in the manufacture of many identical auto parts at one time. The third type of the tooling used is called the unit die and this type of die has the capability to produce many different parts at one time. And lastly, the fourth type of die for use in industrial applications is the combination die that can manufacture many parts for the assembly.

Zinc Part Types

What You Should Know About the Zinc Part Types. Due to its ductility and versatility, zinc (especially zinc alloys) has become a primary choice of manufacturers for die casting processes. Zinc die casting parts types that come from zinc die castings are very useful for making new objects in various kinds of industries. Even golfers make use of zinc part types, since majority of golf clubs are produced from zinc die castings. Automobile parts and home hardware parts like lock housings used for security purposes also uses the zinc die casting process. Its durability is tried and tested, the main reason why all these industries make use of zinc part types for die casting. With the help of new and modern technological innovations and equipment, the products of the zinc die casting process give satisfactory results like perfect dimensions, right texture of surface and precise form even if the shapes are complex. Finishing touches for the surface of the zinc die casting include processes like polishing, powder coating, chrome plating and brass coating. Nickel plating can also be done to the zinc die cast. Normally, nickel plating is applied to give the zinc part types a smooth and shiny surface.

Examples and types of zinc part types include automotive castings, bathroom faucets, handles, hooks, aerospace parts, die-cast cars, die cast toys, fire alarms, faucets, covers, carburetors, heat sinks, kitchen hardware, door handles, decorations, flanges, motorcycle grips, knobs, pumps and pump handles, pump valves, pump rotors, fishing lures, golf club putters, power tools and so much more. All these are manufactured from one common process – zinc die casting.

Die Casting Companies

Die Casting Companies. Metals are widely used nowadays from complicated things like automobiles to simple things like toys. They are widely used because of their durability compared to other materials like plastic. They are heat resistant so they can surpass higher temperatures compared to other materials. These metals are produced in many processes and one of the most common is die casting. Die casting uses different alloys such as aluminum, copper, zinc, magnesium, tin, and lead. There are many companies that offer services both for the consumers and the producers. They offer parts that can be used for production and parts that can be used for the everyday lives of the consumers.

A die casting company produces die casting parts from complex to simple ones. Companies such as this also offer different die cast tooling and maintenance of the machines. They offer different kinds of tooling such as inserts, trim dies, and casting units. These tooling have different uses and they require holders and bases at times.

Die casting companies also offer parts made from different alloys. Others specialize in one or two alloys only but some produce all alloys available. Different alloys include different combinations of alloys to produce quality parts.

Die casting companies offer parts that are made with precise procedure to attain the purpose of the die cast parts. These parts are usually for complex machines like that of the automobiles or office equipment.

These companies compete through the quality of the parts that they produce and the price of the parts that they provide. They also compete through the variety of products that they offer.
